Privacy policy
We built this website to respect your privacy by default. This page explains, in plain language, what that means.
Last updated: June 2026
The short version: this website doesn't track you. There are no cookies, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers, and nothing is stored on your device. We only learn something about you if you choose to email or call us.
Who we are
This website is operated by the Corporation for Public Interest Technology, a public benefit company based in Washington, DC ("we," "us," or "our"). This policy applies to this website. It does not cover separate services we provide under a written agreement, which are governed by that agreement.
What we don't collect
This is a static, privacy-first website. As you browse it, we do not:
- set cookies or use similar tracking technologies;
- run analytics or measurement tools;
- use advertising, retargeting, or behavioral profiling;
- store anything in your browser's local or session storage;
- require an account or a login.
We don't build profiles of visitors, and we don't sell or rent personal information — to anyone, ever.
The contact form
Our contact form is intentionally simple. When you submit it, your browser opens your own email program with a message addressed to us — the website itself does not transmit or store what you type. Your message is only sent if you choose to send it from your email program. If you do, we receive the information you included, such as your name, organization, email address, and your message.
When you contact us
When you email us, call us, or send us a message, we use the information you provide solely to respond to you and to keep a record of our correspondence. We don't use it for marketing unless you ask us to, and we don't share it except where necessary to respond to you or where required by law.
Fonts and our hosting provider
To display its typeface, the site loads fonts from Google Fonts. This means your browser makes a request to Google's servers, and Google may receive your IP address and basic technical details about that request, handled under Google's own privacy terms. This is the only routine third-party request the site makes.
Like virtually all websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (for example, IP address, date and time, and the page requested) for security, troubleshooting, and reliability. We do not use these logs to track or profile you.
Links to other sites
We link to other websites — for example, LinkedIn. Once you leave our site, the privacy practices of those services are their own, and we encourage you to review their policies.
Keeping your information
We keep correspondence only as long as needed for the purpose you contacted us about, for legitimate business and record-keeping reasons, or as required by law — and then we delete it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act. We honor reasonable requests — just contact us using the details below.
Children
This website is intended for a general, professional audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "last updated" date above, and we'll note significant changes where appropriate.
